Madeley & Madeley Heath

Area Guide

Overview

Madeley is a picturesque, semi-rural village just inside Cheshire, between Crewe and Newcastle-under-Lyme on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border. Newcastle-under-Lyme is around 15 minutes' drive away, Crewe takes around 25 minutes. Madeley Heath is just on the Newcastle side of the M6, which is around a mile and a half away.

This characterful village features many pretty, older, cottage-style properties, both large and small, as well as smaller modern houses and bungalows and ex-council properties. Heywoods estate agent has a range of property on the market in Madeley and Madeley Heath.

A significant feature and well-known landmark of the village is Madeley Mill which stood on a dam that formed Madeley Pool. The mill fell into disrepair before being developed and converted into apartments in the early 1990s, saving it from demolition and keeping the unique character alive in this attractive village.

Schools and Colleges

There are two Ofsted-rated 'Good' primary schools in the area; Sir John Offley Church of England in Madeley and Meadows Primary in Madeley Heath. Respected secondary Madeley High School is in the village with Newcastle Academy just under four miles away. Newcastle-under-Lyme College offers Further Education provision.

Transport Links

Madeley and Madeley Heath are situated conveniently between junctions 15 and 16 of the M6 which takes you to Birmingham in the south and provides fast links to the major cities of the North West.

Stoke-on-Trent railway station provides services to London and Nottingham in around 90 minutes, and Birmingham and Manchester in under an hour; the Stafford service takes around 20 minutes.

Amenities
