Overview

Stoke Town is one of the Six Towns that make up the federation of Stoke-on-Trent (The Potteries) and gives the city its name. Situated between Hartshill and Oakhill, it is on the Newcastle-under-Lyme side of the A500./p>

The area is close to the Royal Stoke University Hospital and North Staffordshire Medical Institute, making it an ideal location for hospital employees and medical students. The area is also a short drive from Staffordshire University./p>

The property market is lively and affordable given the proximity to excellent local amenities. There are attractive, large Victorian and Edwardian villas, pockets of new builds, 1950s semis and some flats, but the area is dominated by pretty Victorian terraces. The rental market is lively due in some part to the nearby universities and teaching hospital, and is a popular location for student digs. Schools and Colleges

There are a number of Ofsted-rated 'Good' primary schools in the area, including Willows Primary, Our Lady's Catholic Academy and St John's Church of England schools. Thistley Hough and St Joseph's College are respected nearby secondary schools, with City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College offering Further Education provision./p>

Transport Links

Stoke Town is on the A500 close to junction 15 of the M6 which takes you to Birmingham in the south and provides fast links to the major cities of the North West./p>

It is located less than two miles from Hanley and Newcastle bus stations, both with good local connections, and under a mile from Stoke-on-Trent railway station. This provides services to London and Nottingham in around 90 minutes, and Birmingham and Manchester in under an hour; the Stafford service takes around 20 minutes./p>

Amenities

While Hanley is regarded at Stoke-on-Trent's shopping centre, Stoke Town has many shops and amenities. These include popular high street stores, supermarkets, an optician, barber, post office, pharmacy, petrol station, vet and several ceramics shops. This is a thriving area for local cafes, restaurants and pubs. The area is the city's administrative centre and home to the city council, the town hall, a large library and the police station./p>

For those who enjoy the outdoors, nearby Hartshill Park is a large nature reserve of different habitats, including five ponds. Brampton Park and Gardens offers much to families, including an adventure play park and a museum. A short drive away is award-winning Silverdale Country Park - an 83-hectare open space created on former colliery land, and Apedale Community Country Park, both attracting walkers, cyclists, twitchers and anglers./p>

There are excellent sports facilities near Stoke, including swimming pools, sports grounds and courts and leisure centres. Nearby Water World is a great day out for families and swimming fanatics. For those keen on golf, Newcastle-under-Lyme Golf Club, Keele Driving Range and Trentham Golf Club are a short drive away./p>

Boothen Neighbourhood Centre provides a hub for the community with space for clubs and gatherings. The area is home to Stoke Minster, Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara and RCCG Living Water Parish./p>

Stoke Health Centre offers GP provision and the respected Royal Stoke University Hospital is two miles away./p>
